Sarkarai Pongal

Cardamom, Devi, Rice Variety

SERVES - 4

INGREDIENTS

  • Rice (raw) 1 cup
  • Powdered jaggery 2 ½ cup
  • Ghee 4 tbsp
  • Onedrop Cardamom 1 tsp
  • Salt 2 pinches
  • Cashew nut 25g
  • Raisins 1 tbsp
  • Water as required

METHOD

  • Soak the rice for half an hour
  • Take a heavy bottomed pot or vessel, add water
  • Let the water boil.
  • Now add the soaked rice and cook until it turns soft.
  • Let the water go down completely.
  • Then add powdered jaggery and salt
  • Let the jaggery melt and stir continuously until the aroma arises.
  • Now add the Onedrop cardamom drops.
  • Finally add the raisins and cashews fried in ghee
  • Mix well and serve hot.
